Easy Electric Guitar Songs & Riffs for Beginners

Learn fun riffs and songs step-by-step — perfect for total beginners.

Have you struggled to learn rock guitar in the past?

Did you want to rock out playing songs, but found yourself learning some random chords that didn't sound like anything?

Maybe you tried playing some of your favourite songs, but found yourself struggling to be able to play anything?

Well then you're in luck! We've turned the traditional approach to learning rock guitar on its head and created not just a course, but a system that teaches you real songs, real music and real riffs - from Day 1!

We called this system "Rock Guitar Mastery", and it's the easiest, fastest and most fun way to take your electric guitar and start playing rock music:

The Songs, Chords and Riffs You're About To Learn:

The rock guitar journey that you're about to start is broken into six levels:

Level 1: Foundations

Learn the parts of the guitar, how to tune, hold, and strum it, basic chord shapes, single notes, and the essential theory and vocabulary to get started.

Level 2: AC/DC

Play your first full rock song with simplified riffs and progressions inspired by AC/DC.

Level 1 starts with just a few simple, easy to play notes... but you'll be amazed at how good they sound, and how much fun they are to play, when you play along to the backing track!

Levels 2 to 3 build on this, turning your simple notes into power chords, and making your chords a little bit harder, helping you progress gradually and of course... these sound great playing along to the backing tracks and jam videos!

A screenshot of the instructional video for AC/DC Level 1 song, where Paulie walks you through every note that you have to play, and exactly how to play it.

Level 3: Black Sabbath

Develop your skills further with heavier riffs and more intricate techniques.

Level 1 picks up where we left off in the AC/DC style song, giving you a simple riff... but now the rhythm is slightly more complex.

Levels 2 to 3 introduce some power chords with slides (you'll be suyprised by how much fun these are to play!) and some trickier rhythms with the chords... but all in a gradual, manageable way, so that you can keep jamming.

And of course, exactly how you play these new techniques is broken down in almost excrutiating detail in the instructional video, so that you always know exactly what you should be doing and how you should be doing it.

A screenshot of the jam video for the In The Style of Black Sabbath song. You can see the full band is there waiting for you to jam with!

Level 4: Jimi Hendrix

Now, I know what you're thinking - "hold up, this is a beginner program, and you want me to play Jimi Hendrix songs????"

Don't worry - take a breath!

We're playing "in the style of" and we're picking up where we left off with the Black Sabbath song that you've just had a total blast playing through.

In this song the riff is about as fast as the riffs in Black sabbath, but now we're moving between strings a bit more, forcing you to develop your ability another step along the path.

In Levels 2 to 3 of this song, you'll find yourself using ghost notes and some awesome sounding double stops and finally... we'll introduce your first barre chords.

And as always, you'll get extensive instruction on exactly how to play the new parts and how to break them down; and all parts are written out in detail in your accompanying tab book.

And let's not forget... you're not just playing a riff... you'll be playing these songs along with the full band jam videos... becuase playing songs with a band iswhat it's all about.

A screenshot of the tab for a piece of the In the Style of Jimi Hendrix song. The tab book comes with full tabs, and you can see they are clerly written out with the rhythm to count underneath - Paulie explains exactly what this means, how to play it, read it and count it in the video. You'll be jamming along in no time!

Level 5: Led Zeppelin

By now you've progressed through four levels of rock guitar - you've played through the fundamentals and put the time into learning the previous songs, building your techqnieu, repotoire and ability... and most importantly, having a ton of fun seeing that actually yes - you can play guitar.

So it's time to take things up a notch...

Level 1 starts off roughly where we left off Level 3 in Jimi Hendrix, with some simple chords... but now the rhythm is a bit more complex than we've previously seen with chord playing.

Levels 2 to 3 build on this by adding hammer ons and pull offs to the chords (don't worry about what this is - you'll be guided through exactly what these terms mean, how to play them and how we'll be using them in the songs) giving you a bit more ot think about and a workout for your fingers.

A screenshot of Paulie Z breaking down the Led Zeppelin song. The instructional videos for the songs go into a lot of depth - this video is just over 38 minutes long! The videos for each song level are of a similar length.

Level 6: Aerosmith

At this point you're at a severe risk of thinking of yourself as a guitarist!

After all, you've been playing guitar, learning the chords and technqiues, working on your rhythm and timing... all without realising it...

Because you've not been sitting down with boring theoretical lessons that leave you wondering "what's the point of this?"...

You've not been drilling scales or practising some random chords...

You've been playing real songs along to a real band and having a total blast doing it!

You've been playing music.

And with the "In the style of Aerosmith" song, we're going to put your skills to the test!

Level 1 starts off with a complex power chord riff; and Levels 2 to 3 build on this adding in full chords and making the rhythm much trickier...

But boy, does this one rock!

Once you've made it this far, you'll find yourself more than able to go out into the wild and learn songs, because you'll have the skills and ability to start learning any great rock song you want.

A screenshot of the live jam for the ~Level 2 Aerosmith song - the band are having fun with this one... and so will you! Once you reach this stage you will have a good command of rhythm, chords riffs and techniques that go into playing rock guitar... and not only that, you will have been praactising playing along with a real band - a skill that a lot of guitar players rarely develop!

What Else Does The Program Come With?

Rock Guitar Mastery doesn't just come with the songs, it also includes an extensive reference library of:

So that if you want to revise, train or go deeper into a particular area of playing that one of the songs introduces, you can do so.

For example, say you are struggling with a particular rhyth, or interested in a certain technique; you can simple go into the reference section and get detailed explanations on how it works, with additional examples and breakdowns.

Comprehensive Support and Materials

Each level includes:

The Problem With Traditional Guitar Lessons

Guitar is usually taught in the following way - usually your teacher teaches you the names of the strings and how to tune the guitar (useful, but boring), then they start teaching you a couple of chords.

Then some other chords. Maybe a bit of theory. Maybe they'll teach you a scale.

But you didn't start learning guitar to learn some chords and a scale. You started learning guitar becuase you wanted to rock your favourite songs on guitar.

The Problem: Why Guitar Is Taught This Way

The problem is that when your favourite rock bands wrote their music, they didn't write it for beginners. They wrote something that sounded cool to them - usually easy bits, trickier bits... but nothing that's really "beginner friendly".

So in order to play those songs, you have to reach a certain level of knowledge and skill, which is why the traditional approach is used - you spend months learning the foundational skills and knowledge, then you can start playing songs...

...but the prdraytont follow all progressively build on the previous songs, giving you a natural and gradual way to improve your guitar playing - by playing songs!

One More Thing... Rock Music Is About Playing In A Band... So That's What You'll Be Doing!

Every song comes with a video of a full rock band playing the song, so you can play along with them!

You have no idea how much fun these riffs will be when you're playing them with a band!

Now that might sound overwhelming, but don't worry - these songs have been specifically written for people playing guitar from Day 1, and every level of every song comes with a detailed video lesson showing you exactly what you need to be doing and helping you through every step of every riff.

What’s Inside the Program?

This program is unique in the way it works, with a carefully crafted system of songs "in the style" of that are used to help you master rock guitar.

There are over 120 video lessons guiding you through:

And of course, every lesson comes with a Q&A area where you can get answers to any questions you might have!

We get you actually playing guitar and playing music, taking you from "here's a super easy riff anyone can play", and gradually developing your ability with actual songs to the point of being able to play rock guitar.

The level system for each song works by first giving your a simple "guitar outline" to help you play the essential music idea of the song, then building on it to make it sound more musical... and more fun... which then lets you add more musical complexity (of course, in a manageable and step-by-step" way).

And of course, every level of every song has:

Why Rock Guitar Mastery Works

A Simple, Proven Approach

Rock Guitar Mastery uses a method inspired by the Suzuki approach, tailored specifically for rock guitar. We simplify complex techniques and break songs into easy-to-learn levels. Here’s how:

This is a method that Paulie Z (the instructor) personally tested on his in-person students, and found it so effective he wanted to create a program to share it with the world.

Overcome Beginner Frustrations

We understand the common challenges beginners face, and this program is designed to solve them:

Struggle to Make Progress?

Solution: Rock Guitar Mastery focuses on quick wins. You’ll start with simplified versions of songs and build up gradually. By breaking songs into three difficulty levels, you’ll always have a manageable next step, ensuring steady progress. Plus, the structured, step-by-step approach eliminates confusion about what to practice next.

Overwhelmed by Theory?

Solution: Many beginners find music theory intimidating. That’s why we introduce theory only when it’s directly applicable to what you’re playing. You’ll learn just enough to understand the songs and techniques, keeping the focus on playing and having fun.

Want to Play Real Songs but Feel Stuck?

Solution: Unlike programs that emphasize exercises and drills, Rock Guitar Mastery gets you playing full songs from day one. Each level features iconic riffs and styles inspired by legendary bands like AC/DC, Black Sabbath, and Led Zeppelin. Playing songs you love keeps you motivated and makes practice enjoyable.

No Support When You’re Stuck?

Solution: Our built-in Q&A support system ensures you’re never alone. If you’re unsure about a technique, a lesson, or anything else, simply ask and get direct guidance. This personalized feedback ensures you stay on track and build confidence.

Trouble Staying Motivated?

Solution: Motivation is built into the program with engaging jam videos and backing tracks. Play along with a full band to experience the thrill of real rock music. Achieving milestones like moving from Level 1 to Level 3 of an AC/DC-style song keeps you inspired.

Equipment Frustrations?

Solution: Beginners often struggle with their gear. The program includes tips for achieving great rock tones with basic equipment. You don’t need expensive gear to sound good; we’ll show you how to get the most out of what you have.

Feeling Overwhelmed by Information?

Solution: With over 120 carefully structured lessons, Rock Guitar Mastery ensures you always know what to focus on. The program’s reference sections on chords, rhythm, scales, and techniques let you quickly find answers without sifting through unrelated material.

How A Mid-20th Century Violin Teacher Helps You Learn Rock Guitar

The method we'll be working with is known as the "Suzuki Method", based on the teachings of a Japanese violin teacher.

Suzuki found that by taking a piece of violin music and creating simplified versions that the student would work through, he could get his students playing full pieces much, much faster than with traditonal teaching methods.

Rather than train scales and techniques for months before learning a piece, instead he used highly simplifed versions of pieces, introduced harder versions ascending his students to the full piece-He found students learned significantly faster this way.

His techniques took the classical world by storm, but remain largeley unknown in the rock guitar world.

With Rock Guitar Mastery that changes. We've taken his paradigm-shattering approach to classical violin and applied it to rock guitar, so that you can learn guitar fast, more effectively, and in a way that is more fun!

This isn't an esoteric exercise in pedagogy, this is an approach that we've tested with students in our private teaching practice, and found it so effective that we built a course to share it (and add in things that we couldn't do in private lessons!).

Why Choose Rock Guitar Mastery?

Unlike other programs that leave you overwhelmed or bored, Rock Guitar Mastery is designed to:
